Aging Tissues Contribute to Pain and Restriction
As we age our tissue quality degenerates. We don’t absorb water as well; tissues become dehydrated and rigid. Fluids in our legs that have not been flushed by the pumping of muscular activity congeal and cause stickiness between the layers making it impossible for muscles to slide and glide over each other. We start stumping along as we walk; we get lower leg pain. Our feet muscles get weak because the legs aren’t working; the feet ‘spread’ from the weight of the body on the under-toned foot muscles.
The patterns of distortion accumulated through accident and incident; use and misuse are amplified by the stiffening of tissue quality. Distortions in the fascia of our scull cause our face and jaw to warp. As we age the patterns of distortion we’ve had since we were young become more visible. Rotational preferences that we’ve had in our spine begin to show up as problems in our hip joints; they cause low back and hip pain. We have no idea where these pains came from. Sometimes it is decades old. Studies have revealed that injuries sustained to the knees when the body is young will show up as degeneration when the body is old.
